What is A Human Endeavor?

This is a newsletter that I write about leadership - it is imperfect. For me, it is an exercise in reflection, clarification, sharing, learning, growing, and being of service to others.

Thank you for reading.

What’s with the name?

I chose the name “A Human Endeavor” after seeing the phrase in a favorite piece of US Army doctrine. It struck me as powerfully succinct - leadership is essentially a human endeavor. At the heart of what we do as leaders is that we are humans, striving with other humans to make things happen - striving to deliver on our project or mission, striving to grow as a team, striving to have an impact, to be of service to others. The phrase honors the imperfection, humanity, fallibility of leaders. It honors the primary focus of leaders - the humans they lead. It honors the act of endeavoring to lead - trying, striving, reaching, practicing rather than perfecting.
